- Manchester City – Tottenham 3-3
- Arsenal – Wolverhampton 2-1
Manchester/London (Dagbladet): Odegaard and Arsenal were the big winners when Manchester City and Tottenham played 3-3 on Sunday. The team leads the standings by two points behind Liverpool and three points ahead of City.
Odegaard played two very good games for Arsenal last week. In the stands, his friend Helen Spelling cheered him on. The 24-year-old has made a full comeback after a hip problem.
When Dagbladet asked Melissa Reddy – who follows the Premier League closely – what she thought of Odegaard’s season, she first had something on her mind:
– The first thing I want to say about Martin is what a wonderful person he is. He has amazing manners. When you interview him, he respects your time. He is very committed.
Pulled it last night
Reddy gapes:
-He asks you questions and wonders how your day was. Not many players do this. They often sit down and want to do the interview. You ask questions, they rarely ask questions. But Martin is one of the players who does.
Odegaard is 24 years old and is the captain of Norway and Arsenal. When you’re at the top of the hierarchy in two places, it’s no coincidence.
Dagbladet meets Reddy in the press room at Manchester City’s home stadium, the Etihad Stadium. I watched the exciting match that ended 3-3 between City and Tottenham yesterday.
She has no doubts about Martin Odegaard’s qualities:
– He has created unity in the Arsenal dressing room. I have spoken to other players – like Eddie Nketiah and Declan Rice – and they say he is a very good leader. It can appear “soft”. But it can also be defined by the way it defines culture. As a player he is unbelievable.
Reddy says she is happy with the situation Odegaard is in today:
-I remember people all over the world talking about him when he was 14 years old. He had a period where it didn’t work out for him. But the talent never disappeared. If you work hard, you will be rewarded. This is what we see now. He gets his reward.
Last season, Arsenal topped the Premier League for 248 days. This time, the club will hope to hold on all the way, with Odegaard as the striker.
– Reddy says: I went with Arsenal to the United States before the season.
– When you sit in front of them, you can see how they are with the other players, how they are with the fans, how they are with the opponents and how they treat the support staff. It can say a lot about the player as a person. And Odegaard is a really great guy.
Luton awaits Arsenal away from home on Tuesday. It’s number one against number 17 in the Premier League.
