Nordas: A completely different race

On Friday, he will compete in the first round of qualifying for the 1,500-meter race. A final will likely be held on Sunday if the qualifiers go well.

Nordas surprised by winning a bronze medal at the World Athletics Championships held in Budapest last summer, but he says that running indoors is a completely different matter.

– I ran for a medal in Budapest and I did it, but I was too far behind to win the gold. “If you want to win, you have to go all the way,” Nordas said.

He did not do so when he set a personal best in the 3,000m indoor race in Madrid on February 23. He described the experience as “a shock.”

– I was very far behind on the field for a long time and ran poorly tactically. Indoors, you can't escape with a slow start. You can do it outdoors, says the 25-year-old from Rogaland.

Nordås and coach Gjert Ingebrigtsen have been in Spain for a while and came to Glasgow from there. Nordas says he doesn't put his heart into what will happen this weekend.

-I want to drive the car through the competition. Not that it's that important, but once I'm here, I want to do well.
