Bak, who left Sogndal after the 2021 season, brings many memories of different kinds of his encounters with LSK over the years.
– I made my Eliteserien debut for Sogndal against Lillestrom in Åråsen in 1994. We lost 3-0. It was my first encounter with Lillestrom. As a rule, I took a lot of hits. What I love about Lillestrøm and Åråsen is that it is a proper football club and a proper stadium. It’s real. It’s grass. Fans are among the best at creating an atmosphere. A beautiful club with a strong history and many good players and coaches over the years. And I always get chills up my spine when I hear “Aldri aleine til Åråsen”. Buck says it’s a great honor to train Lillestrom.
The two parties agreed to an agreement through the 2023 season.
– The team that led the team through the transition did a great job, but everyone agrees that now we need to appoint a new head coach after the resignation of Gere and Peter. Eric Backe has a solid career behind him as a player and coach, he is a clear and wise footballing leader and we are sure he will do very well with the rest of the support team throughout the season. . This will also give the club more time to find a long-term coaching solution that will develop both the club and the team in the coming years, says LSK president Morten Kokem.
I’m looking forward to the opportunity and fully focused on doing the best work possible for the rest of the season. It suits me perfectly to be back in a coaching position now, and I think Lillestrom is the club that would suit me well. Buck says, I think it will be a good match.
Due to the flight being cancelled, he will not be able to attend Thursday’s training in Åråsen at 10:30am. Heading into Sunday’s game against Viking, he’ll be watching and being sparring partner for his current support rig before becoming a full-time coach from Monday.

– It wasn’t easy to face Lillestrom, and I hope it won’t be the same now. We will be a difficult team to face. But I have come to a club and a team that are in very good shape, and have developed very well in recent years. I look forward to working with the team that already exists. I worked with physiotherapist Sondre (Sjøgren Jakobsen) in Sogndal, trained Martin Ove Roseth and knew Frode Kippe well before. I won’t revolutionize anything, but I will come to contribute my part, says the 45-year-old, who has 27 caps for Norway.
A warm welcome to Eric Backe at Lillestrom Sports Club!
