The shipping company Norled AS received an infringement fee of NOK two million from NVE for building electrical installations without a permit.
– Starting the construction of electrical installations without permission is a serious violation of the Energy Act. This undermines the entire licensing scheme, and it is something we want to overcome in the future,” Ann Johan Krakens, head of the division at the Norwegian Directorate of Water Resources and Energy (NVE), said in a press release. Website of NVE.
NVE believes that NVE has violated the law in connection with the construction of a ferry loading facility at Årvika ferry quay in Sande municipality, Vestland county, which should have started prior to NVE's approval. This was discovered when NVE processed the license application in March 2022.
Permission was granted shortly afterwards, but NVE should have informed Norled at the same time that the incident would continue. The shipping company should also have been notified of the potential breach charge in September 2023.
The communications manager at Norled, Cathrine Gjertsen, confirmed to NTB that she received the decision from NVE and says they will now go and look at it more closely. Gjertsen would not comment further on the matter at this time.
