Do as others do

So far, the Volvo C40 has only offered the highest level of equipment and all-wheel drive, but now you can choose between five different versions and price ranges.

Including a much cheaper version: the Volvo C40 Recharge Core.

– With the new variant, we are making the C40 Recharge available in a new price range, says Director of Public Relations and Communications Eric Trosby at Volvo Car Norway in a press release.

The fact that auto manufacturers are offering a cheaper version of the current models is nothing new. Polestar 2 did the same Almost six months ago. Previously too Hyundai Kona And the Jaguar I-Pace Much cheaper versions received.

Saves more than 100,000

The less expensive version of the C40 is now available at NOK 453,900. Then you get the rear wheel drive model and the name Core.

By comparison, you’d have to pay a minimum of NOK 558,900 for the top model with the highest level of equipment: the Twin Ultimate recharge with all-wheel drive. This is the last model that Elbil24 previously had tested.

The C40 is delivered in several levels of equipment, and is reasonably priced with service and insurance included, Trusby says.

Key Differences

One of the first things we notice with the new versions of the Volvo C40 is that the roof spoiler and the roofline that surrounds the large panoramic roof from the A to C pillars have been given the same body colour.

This was black before. With the same color scheme on the body and rear spoiler, the car gets a more comprehensive look in terms of colour.

Inside, the car can now be ordered with seats with wool upholstery.

The battery in the new Vovlo C40 Core is 69 kWh (67 kWh) and has an estimated range of 431 km under the WLTP standard. This means that the car’s range is 10 kilometers shorter than the top-of-the-line model with a 78 kWh (net 75 kWh) battery.

The new, more expensive version of the C40 delivers 231 hp and 330 Nm. The battery can be charged from approximately 10 to 80 percent of its capacity. 32 minutes with the lightning charger and provides a maximum available charging power of 150 kW.

If you want a trailer hitch on the C40 Core, it can be ordered. Then you get the maximum allowable trailer weight of 1,500 kilograms – versus 1,800 kilograms on the top model.

Both C40 models are approved for roof loads of up to 75 kg and can include a roof rack and ski box.

Full body insurance

If you don’t want to buy the C40, but still want the car, Volvo is also offering that you can subscribe to it.

Then the price starts at 6,290 kroner per month for the C40 Core and 6,990 kroner for the top model C40 Twin Ultimate.

Whether you buy or rent, you get three years of service and three years of full hull insurance.

The same goes for roadside assistance, wiper replacement (once a year) and brake discs/pads when worn out.

With so many centralized services included in the price, customer worries are reduced and you get lower operating costs, Trusby says.
