While doing press for the latest Oscar-nominated film All of Us Strangers Paul Mescal He was asked if he had considered dabbling in the comedy genre for his next project, after starring in mostly drama films.
Talk to View awardsThe Aftersun actor admitted that comedy “scares” him. However, after recently watching the popular teen comedy Bottoms, Mescal says he is interested in potentially starring in a romantic comedy in the future with The Bear creator Ayo Edebiri, who was one of the leads in Bottoms.
“Comedy scares the hell out of me because I think I saw Bottoms recently and I was in awe of the way they do it,” Mescal said. “This is one of those things where I left the cinema feeling incredibly jealous and seeing the talent of everyone involved in this film. But I think in the next five years I will challenge myself to do maybe like a romance film with Ayo (Edebiri) or something like that which would be great.” .

“A unique raunchy comedy, the film focuses on two girls, PJ and Josie, who start a fight club as a way to lose their virginity to fans. “Their bizarre plan works,” the synopsis reads. “The fight club gains traction and soon the most popular girls At school, they beat each other in the name of self-defense. Bottoms was directed by Emma Seligman from a screenplay she co-wrote with Sinnott. Besides Edbury, the film also starred Rachel Sinnott, Havana Rose Liu, Kaia Gerber, and Nicholas Galitzine, with Dagmara Dominczyk and Marshawn Lynch. After its theatrical release, it began receiving a lot of positive reviews, with critics praising Seligman’s direction and story. It currently holds a 91% certified fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 201 reviews.
