Actress and former “American Idol” judge Paula Abdul, 61, has filed a lawsuit against the show's producer Nigel Lythgoe, 74, for abuse.

Abdul filed a lawsuit against Lythgoe on Friday, December 29, in Los Angeles County. TMZ wrote that they viewed documents in which Abdul claims the first assault occurred on one of “Idol's” first seasons during initial regional auditions.
According to TMZ, Abdul claims Lythgoe entered the elevator at the hotel they were staying at and pushed her into the wall as soon as the elevator door closed. According to Abdul, he must have felt her breasts and stomach and tried to kiss her with his tongue.
The singer and talent judge's account of the incident is that she tried to push him away and that she ran to her room as soon as the elevator door opened.
Abdul claims that she immediately informed her representatives about the incident, but decided to remain silent for fear of retaliation.
I thought she was going to a business meeting
The second assault is said to have occurred in 2015 when she was a judge on the dance competition “So You Think You Can Dance,” the equivalent of “Dance Fever” here in Norway.
According to Abdul, Lithgow then reportedly invited her to his home to discuss career opportunities, which she reportedly accepted because she thought it was a professional relationship.
Instead, she ended up back in a situation where Lithgow assaulted her, according to Abdul — who also claims she witnessed the producer harassing one of Abdul's assistants on one occasion.
The former talent judge is suing Lythgoe personally and the production companies for sexual assault and harassment, among other things.
Rolling Stone magazine Abdul claims Lithgow also verbally insulted her before she took on the role of judge, calling her an irrelevant person who “probably would not have been recognized by the contestants on the show,” she wrote.
TMZ wrote that they attempted to get comment from Nigel Lythgoe, who has not yet responded to the inquiry.

Abdul, 61, was a huge star in the 1980s and 1990s, best known for, among other things, the album “Forever Your Girl,” which spent 64 consecutive weeks on the Billboard charts.
