Power struggle at KrF’s national meeting: Abortion rumours

Hamar (Dagbladet): Many looked nervously at the closed door as the vote count began to drag on.

At a hotel in Hamar, a new KrF vice president was to be elected. The two candidates, Ida Lindtveit Røse and Jorunn Gleditsch Lossius, had very different supporters in the hall.

Several sources Dagbladet spoke to said that before and after this weekend’s national meeting, a serious mobilization took place:

Supporters of the ultra-conservative Joran Kleditch Losius spread accusations about Ida Lindwaites Rose’s views on abortion. This caused confusion among some delegates.

Dagbladet knows that one of 10 to 15 people have been confronted with such claims in various contexts before and after KrF’s national meeting.

Ida Lindtveit Røse was described by them as a champion of free and self-determined abortion.

This was said in person and over the phone.

Rose has categorically denied being in favor of free abortion.

– No one has had an abortion here. Everyone is against it, Rose told TalkBladet during the national meeting.

Rose supports a strategy by party leader Olac Polstad to accept the current abortion limit to 12 weeks to prevent the right from being extended.

However, these claims created uncertainty for many ahead of the vice-presidential election.

Jorunn Gleditsch Lossius himself did not want to comment on the case.

When Dagbladet asked one of her supporters about these claims, there are central disagreements about what it means to support free and self-determined abortion.

District board member and former party adviser Rocknhild Helena Adland Hahn, Rose points out, among others. said She “advocates self-determined abortion” before the 12th week.

– Personally, I don’t know of anyone spreading any information about Rose other than this, says Hane.

Talkblade has previously discussed internal disagreements within the party over strategy and direction when it comes to matters of value like abortion.

– It is not true that the party’s position is to adopt the current abortion law in order to prevent its extension. This contrasts with the new, divisive stance on abortion, long promoted by Rose, which the KrFU has recently advocated, and which many KrF members are reacting strongly to, Høen tells Dagbladet.

Although the mobilization was strong, it still did not influence the outcome.

When the doors were opened the television cameras announced Rose as the winner with 56 votes to 98. Thus he became the vice president.

Olaug Bollestad and Dag Inge Ulstein were re-elected to the party leadership. Bollestad declined to comment on the matter. Ross is aware of the criticism against him, but declined to comment.
