“Soon the country as a whole seemed to be welcoming Meghan with genuine joy (like the Queen,” a note in the newspaper). According to Seward, Meghan, now the Duchess of Sussex, must have reminded him of American Wallis Simpson, who was also divorced and married to a member of the British royal family, King Edward.
King Edward VIII was King of Great Britain in 1936, but was forced to abdicate that same year when he fell in love and wanted to marry the divorced Simpson. The two later became the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.
Edward's brother and Queen Elizabeth's father, King George VI, then took over as regent.

Prince Philip aka Meghan Markle
According to Seward, Prince Philip should have had a nickname for Meghan, based on how much she reminded him of Simpson.
Seward said this in an interview with GB News.
She added that the title should have been “Duchess of Windsor” and is often abbreviated as “DoW”.
Furthermore, Seward wrote that Queen Elizabeth was “fully aware” of what Philip meant by this comparison. In retrospect he should have noted that Harry was probably “very in love” with Meghan. Perhaps in reference to how the duke couple chose to leave the British royal family and move to California in the USA.
