It's been good not to write or talk about Liverpool's injury news over the past couple of weeks, but in today's press conference ahead of the Merseyside derby, Jurgen Klopp brought bad news once again.

Diogo Jota, who scored the goal in the 3-1 win against Fulham on Sunday, is injured again.

– Unfortunately yes. Klopp replied: “Diogo (Jota) scored but felt a little problem at the same time, so now he is out for a few weeks.”

Journalists in the press room also asked a follow-up question regarding the Portuguese's new injury.

– I can't say much to be honest. He had felt it a little in his hip (before), but it felt good. Then he started against Fulham, feeling good, but he felt it again when he scored. The Liverpool coach added: “It is not a major injury, but we have arrived late in the season.”

Back to villa?

If the 27-year-old misses two weeks, he will undoubtedly miss the away games against Everton and West Ham. Tottenham's match at Anfield on May 5 is also likely to come too soon. He certainly looks set to make it to the final two games, away to Aston Villa and at home to Wolves.

Jurgen Klopp tried to be positive when the question was asked in the press room.

– Obviously this is not the time for a player to get injured. Of course he won't be available tomorrow, but fortunately he will be back in two weeks.

Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah warmed the bench from the start against Fulham on Sunday, with one of them likely to replace Jota in the Merseyside derby. Luis Diaz and Cody Jacobo are also injury-free, so fortunately there are plenty of options up front, but that wasn't good news.
