Rocket League sidewipe – finally on mobile!

Rocket League has been among the most popular online games in recent years and still has just under 100 million players online in a single month, according to figures from Activeplayer.

The game is, in short, a mixture of car and soccer games, with 2-3 players on each team aiming to score, as you drive around in cars and push a huge soccer ball around a framed soccer field.

Now the creators, Psyonix, have finally released a mobile version of the game. After a limited trial period, it is now open to anyone who wants to download Rocket League Sideswipe, as the mobile game is called, not Pocket League, which was pretty obvious.

As the name indirectly suggests, the mobile version of the game is a 2D game, meaning that the cars only go left and right, as well as up and down when jumping or boosting in the direction of height. You can either play a duel against each other, or be two on each team. In a separate game mode, goals are replaced with basketball hoops.

How it looks when you play, you see in the trailer at the top of this article.

As in the regular version, it’s free to play, but with the coins you earn or pay real cash for, you can upgrade cosmetics with both cars, registration effects and the like. Currently, the game is in a ‘pre-season’ state, so now you can unlock new things just by playing it.

Our first impression: copious fun!
