– The State Director cannot consider that the City of TIME can grant an exemption for the construction of commercial buildings for the first construction phase of the data storage centre, as stated in the consultation response in accordance with Garbladet.

The municipality of Time is located south of Stavanger and Sandnes. There, Green Mountains will begin building a data center that will be used by a large technology company, according to the company itself.

Høie believed that an exemption until construction had begun would have violated the terms of the exemption in the Planning and Building Code. Among other things, the municipality must have sufficient knowledge and ensure coordination before making a decision.

Green Mountains said it’s important to start construction quickly. The company wants to complete the first construction phase by January 2025 at the latest, while the last construction phase should be completed in 2027, according to it.
