According to the ministry, several sabotage and reconnaissance teams were stopped when they attempted to cross the river at the villages of Pridneprovsky, Tyahinka and Krinkij.
The Russians are also said to have killed soldiers and destroyed equipment and vehicles.
The American Institute for the Study of War said on Friday that Ukrainian forces appeared to have made progress and established smaller bridgeheads on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson.
Last year, Ukraine regained parts of the Kherson region, including the capital, Kherson. But the Russian forces that withdrew did not go beyond the other side of the wide river. From there, they continue artillery shelling of the city of Kherson and its surrounding villages.
