A little over a month ago, Samir Nasri officially resigned as a professional footballer.
However, he hasn’t quite given up on football, and this week he’s back in action in an exhibition match called Match des Heros.
The match was played between Marseille legends and a UNICEF composite team with players such as Eric Abidal and Esteban Cambiasso. Nasri’s team had former stars such as Robert Pires, Marcel Desele and Didier Drogba.
However, it was the aforementioned Nasri who got the most attention after the match.
His pictures are spread on many social media accounts and many people laugh at him. But many of them are now defending Nasri.
To all major social media platforms posting a picture of Samir Nasri: STOP. You know what you’re doing and it sucks. Don’t use it to get likes and comments and then post about how important mental health is in the next post, Sky Sports reporter Kyle Walker wrote on Twitter.
Why would a “bodyshame” person take a short break from training after 20 years of training as a professional athlete, writes Twitter user.
Nasri did not comment on the photos.
The 34-year-old is perhaps best known for his time at Arsenal and Manchester City. At Arsenal, the Frenchman played between 2008 and 2011, winning 126 matches and scoring 27 goals.
For Manchester City, he made 176 appearances and participated in winning the league on two occasions. Since the summer of 2020, Nasri has not been under contract with any club, and a little more than a month ago he officially resigned as a professional footballer.
