Sporting director Hampus Andersson is very happy that they have found a replacement for Marko Ilic.
-We brought in a good goalkeeper who is used to playing important matches. I know him well from Swedish football, especially in Mjalby he was very good. He is willing to train and be professional and has performed well in games that mean a lot, says Sarpsborg 08 sporting director Hampus Andersson.

Karlyohan Eriksson was under contract with Nordsjælland until the 2026 season and was therefore bought on a free from the Danish club.
– We have found a solution in northern New Zealand. I can't comment on the amount, but the shift is within the limits we have in our budget, Anderson says.
Sarpsborg 08 wanted to sign a goalkeeper on a long contract, rather than a new loan deal like Marko Ilic.
– Goalkeeper is the position where we want more continuity. It has been a bit difficult recently with injuries and loan deals, and we want more stability around our goalkeeper situation. Now there will be big competition with Linder (Øy), and next year Anders (Kristiansen) will also return from IFK Göteborg, explains the sporting director.
The club also includes young African goalkeeper Mamoure Ndiaye, who is making great progress.
Good clubs
Eriksson previously played for clubs such as Dundee United, Mjalby, Jönköping Sodra and HJK Helsingfors.
Recently, the 29-year-old Finn has had little game time in northern New Zealand.
– Karljohan wants more consistent playing time again and believes there is a greater chance of that with us than in North New Zealand, he says.
The new Sarpsborg 08 goalkeeper still suits up for the Finnish national team.
– Karljohan was present at a national team meeting late in early June, says Anderson.
Eriksson had his first training session with Sarpsborg 08 on the pitch on Monday morning.
– He trained with Nordsjælland for a week, and now he has 19 days with us before the match against Brann, which is the first match after the transfer window opened. Then he must be in good shape, says the sporting director.
modern goalkeeper
– I played in Denmark, Scotland, Finland and Sweden. I think it's hard to describe myself as a goalkeeper, but I try to be a modern goalkeeper who works a lot with the defence in front of me. It's a team effort. I think it is. “The most important thing is that we work together interactively,” Eriksson tells the club's website.
