WordPad has been with the Microsoft operating system since Windows 95.
And now the company is announcing that the updates are finished and that it will remove the software from future versions of Windows.
“absolutely awful”

– We recommend Microsoft Word for formats such as .doc and .doc. rtf for rich text documents, and Windows Notepad for plain text documents such as .txt, the company writes in support document.
The news wasn’t surprising, as the software hasn’t been updated in a while. The last notable update was when the Ribbon interface was updated in Windows 7 the edge.
In 2020, Microsoft made WordPad an optional program that could be uninstalled.

New Windows next year
the site TechSpot He thinks it’s unlikely that there will be as much of a buzz around the decision regarding WordPad as there was when Microsoft tried to do the same with Paint in 2017. They were supposed to replace this with a new version called 3D Paint, but the company then scrapped the plans. Lots of complaints.
Meanwhile, Microsoft says it will upgrade Notepad with features like auto-save and auto-recover tabs.
The next major update for Windows, Windows 12, is expected to be released next year.
