It looks like the mother of new goalkeeper Silje Solberg-Ostassel (33) will be back on the handball field against Iceland on Saturday afternoon, which could have a major impact on Norway’s World Cup chances.
Solberg-Østhassel became a mother in mid-August, but the 33-year-old still took part in the girls’ handball world championship meeting this week.
She has not played a game since last winter, but she may return this afternoon. Solberg-Østhassel was promoted to the Norway team in The direct page of the Handball Federation.
There is the other Norwegian goalkeeper, Olivia Lake Nygaard.
National team manager Thorir Hergeirsson announces the squad about an hour before kick-off.
Katrin Lunde and Jjor Solberg-Ostassel have been a great Norwegian goal duo for a number of years. The most recent was in the European Group last year, where the Norwegian won the gold medal.
There has been a lot of uncertainty regarding the selection of goalkeeping positions recently. Lundy suffered a thigh injury when the Vipers met with French team Metz in the Champions League at the beginning of November. But the reports surrounding it are very positive at the moment.
The rules allow the Norwegian coaching staff to make changes to the squad until the start of the tournament and also during the World Cup. It gives time to take a look at the situation in Lunde and Solberg-Ostassel.
Norway got good answers when they played their first World Cup Test against Angola on Thursday. The match resulted in the team winning 32-24. Neither Solberg-Østhassel nor Lunde participated.
Today’s match against Iceland starts at 16.45 in the Haakons Hall in Lillehammer.
