Stockholm Central Station Evacuated After Bomb Scare – NRK Norway – Overview of news from around the country

The northern part of Stockholm's central railway station has been evacuated due to a bomb threat, Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reports.

A police operation is now underway after a suspicious object was discovered at the station.

“The only thing I know is that we are investigating the site and that part of it has been closed off,” Nadia Norton of the police told the newspaper.

Police said they received the alert at 6 p.m., but did not want to say anything more at this time.

– I can only say that we control something.

Bomb technicians on site

The newspaper Aftonbladet reported that the suspicious object was found during a search of people.

– I was going to get on the train, but then there were civilian police who took everyone out and said, 'Everyone get out, there is a suspected bomb.' Then they closed the road, a witness tells Aftonbladet.

At approximately 18:20, the police expanded the cordoned off area, and bomb technicians will be at the scene.

Several were arrested.

Several people have been arrested in the operation so far, according to Expressen. Everyone must have been in contact with the suspicious object.

SVT reported that one person had been arrested in connection with the siege, but it was not certain if the arrest was related to the bomb threat.

Police do not want to comment on the arrests.
