Stockholm, Sweden | Shooting in several locations in Stockholm

The first shooting took place in the middle of the 6 p.m. rush hour on the platform at Bajarmussen subway station. No one was injured, but a man was later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

“We were inside the subway and were looking for several perpetrators,” says police spokeswoman Karina Skagerlind.

About an hour later, shots were fired at an apartment building in Järvalla, north of Stockholm. Several people were in the house, but no one was injured.

“We have examined a large number of people,” Skagerlind says.

At midnight on Thursday, police reported that two teenagers, including a boy under the age of 18, had been arrested on suspicion of shooting in Järvalla. Police are investigating the case as attempted murder.

Shortly after 9 p.m. on Wednesday evening, police received a report of loud explosions in a building in Södertälje, southwest of Stockholm. There, police found an injured person who was taken to hospital.

– We have checked people and referred them for questioning, but that does not mean they are suspects. I have not been informed that anyone has been arrested, says Skagerlind.

This third case is also being investigated as an attempted murder.

On Wednesday night, it was too early for police to determine whether there was a connection between the three cases.

“We know that shootings are not rare, but in this case we don't know that yet,” Skagerlind says.
