On Sunday evening, news was reported of the death of American actress Suzanne Somers. She lived 76 years.
Somers’ agent, R. Corey Hay was the one who confirmed the death.
Matt: – His family was around him
– Suzanne Somers died peacefully at her home in the early morning of October 15. He stated that she had lived with an aggressive type of breast cancer for 23 years.
The actress died surrounded by her close family, including her husband, Alan Hamel (87 years old). The couple was married for 46 years, and now Hamill is speaking out about the loss of his wife, he writes Page six.
According to him, Somers must have fallen ill with cancer again earlier this year. They tried to find a treatment that could help her recover, but to no avail.
-We have reached a point where cancer has become very difficult. Just when you think everything is fine, and you know you’re healthy, cancer can rear its ugly head… Cancer is ugly, and it’s an epidemic, he says.
– I was shocked
He mentions that his wife fought until she took her last breath, and that she died while he was holding her hand.
– One of the things we talked about was that we knew this day would come (where someone would die, editor’s note). But we thought I would die first, because I was ten years older than her.
He thinks it’s hard to understand that things turned out the way they did, considering he was always afraid Somers would be left alone.
– I always said: “If you die, you are alone. I cannot imagine being left alone, there is no solution.”
