Sven Erik Næss was killed in Halden on Saturday evening.
The next of kin have been informed that his name will be shared by East Police District on Tuesday.
Næss was found with fatal injuries at an address in Halton at around 10.30pm on Saturday. Although life-saving first aid was administered, his life could not be saved.
A man in his 30s was charged with murder and remanded in custody on Monday. He is innocent.
VG has contacted the family's legal counsel, Hans Henrik Pettersen, who declined to comment on the case at this time.
John Funner Triquason was a childhood friend of Nass. VG met him outside the apartment where his friend was killed on Monday afternoon.
– It's sad, it happened so cruelly. I was going home on Saturday and saw the police here. Then I tried to call, but he didn't answer, Triquason continued:
– He was a good friend and he loved his friends very much. He always gave Christmas presents to my family and my children. The friend said he was a good-hearted boy.
The man accused of murder had nothing to do with the deceased and wanted something completely different in the building, according to his defense attorney, Tor Magnus Fagermo.
– It was quite a coincidence that my client ended up in this. There was no connection between them before. He was in the building because he was going to see someone else in another apartment, Fagermo told VG.
Police prosecutor Nina Martinsen declined to comment on the relationship between the two, saying it was part of the investigation.
Police also would not comment on the cause of death or the sequence of events.
