Before the weekend, the sad news came that former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and at best had only a year to live.
In an interview with Sky News, he said he has always been a keen supporter of Liverpool.
– If you're talking about football teams, then yes, my father is still alive and he's a Liverpool fan, and so am I. I've always been like that. I've always wanted to be a Liverpool manager, and it's pretty certain that's not going to happen.
– But I'm still a Liverpool fan.
It may happen in March
There was movement on social media following the interview, and John Gibbons of The Anfield Wrap was on Sky News and floated the idea that Eriksson could be on the sidelines during the Legends match during the national team break in March.
It has gradually become a tradition for Liverpool legends to play a match at Anfield in March, and this time Ajax are the opponents. This will be the eighth game played, with the date being March 23.
Supporters have also contacted Robbie Fowler on Twitter/X, Which confirms that there is movement to achieve that. This would have been a nice gesture for Ericsson, who will soon be 76 years old.
It has not yet been announced who will play with Liverpool in that legendary match.
