Talent scout Espen Olsen is grooming potential LSK players in Nigeria / Lillestrom

The list of players from Africa’s most populous nation who have found success in Åråsen grows longer – and just to name a few: Anthony Oga, Nusa Ejebor, Ifeney Mathew, Egoh Ogbu and Akure Adams, to name a few.

They were all brought over by Atta Aneke’s network, and these days the Norwegian agent is running another tournament with Nigerian players where LSK is, among others.

– This is part of the long term collaboration we have done with Atta Aneke. This time it was fitting that a relatively new scout, Espen Olsen, was involved in this matter. You get a lot of impressions, experiences, and experiences through this visit, and you can play a lot of players in a short time. We’ve had many good experiences with Nigerians at LSK and there’s a good chance new people will come here to prove themselves in the future,” says sporting director Simon Mesvin.

Formerly a well-known elite striker at several clubs, coach at Strommen and sporting director at Hamkam, Olsen traveled to Nigeria on Monday and has already been able to watch several matches as talents from across the country show themselves for some European clubs.

– I’ve watched 13 matches here so far. It’s a very good scheme run by Atta Aneke, and there are a number of interesting players here, but many of them are very young and we will follow them over time. When I get home I’m going to have a little discussion with Simon (Mesvin) about what we’re going to do next. There are undoubtedly many hot guys here, so we’ll see if we get to invite someone to Norway eventually. It’s not entirely inconceivable, says Espen Olsen.
