Telenor presented its first-quarter results on Tuesday morning.
– The first quarter was another strong quarter for Telenor. We continue to develop security services that can protect our customers from digital attacks, and we see this as important for our customers, says Telenor CEO Sigve Bryke in a press release on Tuesday morning.
Meanwhile, the company increased its service revenue to NOK 15.8 billion during the first three months of the year, an increase of 5.6 percent over the same period last year.

During the first quarter, Telenor entered into an artificial intelligence (AI) collaboration with US computer company Nvidia, and Brekke highlighted this investment in AI in the press release.
– We will work together in a number of areas, and the goal is to accelerate artificial intelligence in the Nordic countries. This means, among other things, that AI must be integrated into all aspects of our business, from the workplace and value chain to customer experiences. He says that everything that can be improved using AI should be improved using AI.
Downsizing
However, the telecom giant has decided to make significant cuts.
– In order to meet customer needs, we must digitize and explore new ways of working. This leads to organizational changes, loss of roles and loss of manual tasks, says Telenor Norway CEO Birgitte Ingebretsen.

The changes will be introduced on May 1. This includes cutting just over 100 employees at the company. In addition, there will be a significant reduction in the number of temporary employees and consultants, Telenor said.
