Israeli Haim Topol wrote, he died at his home in Tel Aviv on Wednesday diverse and a number of other media.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog paid tribute to the late star on Twitter, writing among other things that Topol was a “talented actor who conquered the stage both in Israel and abroad”.

Topol was nominated for an Academy Award for his role as milkman Tifi in the popular “Fiddler on the Roof” in 1972. He won a Golden Globe statuette for the same role.
The veteran actor has also played the same role consistently on the musical stage for more than five decades. It is estimated that he has appeared as Tellef in 3,500 performances.
Cinema audiences also know him from such films as “For Your Eyes Only” and “The Chase of Eichmann”, as well as the “Winds of War” and “War and Memory” series.
Topol has spent the past few years writing and illustrating books. He was also very involved in charity work for underprivileged children.
Topol died with his loved ones around him. He has been suffering from dementia for the past year.
The movie star is survived by his wife and three children.
