This was confirmed by the head of the Joint Unit for Intelligence and Investigation in the Oslo Police District, Great Medlit VG.
A young man was shot in Doyen in Oslo on Saturday evening. Shots were fired at Tøyen Torg, where many restaurants and catering companies were present on Saturday evening.
Police have yet to make any arrests and are asking for tips, photos and videos from the area.
The victim was known to police, and the attack did not appear to be random, Medlit confirms.
– Yes, he is known to us. We know it as part of the ecosystem in Toien/Greenland. But he says it’s important to make clear that he’s the victim in this case, and we want to do everything we can to find the person who shot him.
There is no danger to life
He says the 18-year-old was part of the youth scene in the area.
– It is too early to say to what extent this is related to conflict in an environment or between people.
Medlit says police are investigating several hypotheses and theories.
– The person who was shot underwent overnight follow-up and surgery.
The injury is serious, but his condition is stable and his life is not in danger. The man is yet to be questioned.
– This is a very high priority and we are doing our best to find out who is behind it.
Medlit says police don’t know who the culprit is. They call witnesses
– If anyone knows what happened or saw something, they should get in touch, she says.
