This is what the country’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (man) said on TV4’s “News Morgon” program Monday morning.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited Sweden on Saturday. He then urged Sweden to send the JAS-39 Gripen model to Ukraine, Expressen writes.
On Sunday, it became known that Denmark and the Netherlands are going to donate F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
A spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, Yurij Ignat, said that approximately 70 Ukrainian service personnel — including pilots and technicians — are being trained in Denmark. He writes Ukrainian form.
Kristersson confirmed Monday morning that Sweden needed the same planes.
Sweden is a big country geographically and we have to defend ourselves. Christerson points out Monday morning that we are still not members of NATO.
– We must balance what we can give them (Ukraine) and what we ourselves must get, says the Swedish Prime Minister.
However, Kristerson does not rule out that the country may send Jas Gribben to Ukraine on a later occasion.
