Thérèse Gohoug, 35, impressively won the women's half marathon category in Gro on May 1 – but did not meet the European Commission's requirements.
The EC requirements for the half marathon are 1,10,30. Johag got 1,11,25.
At the same time as 'everyone' is waiting for a yes or no answer as to whether Yohog will return wholeheartedly to cross-country skiing to the bathroom in Trondheim this winter, she played in the Puppy Half Marathon on May 1st.
– Maybe the beginning was a little difficult. It probably won't be my last half marathon, it added flavour, Johaug tells VG.
-I am satisfied, but at the same time I know that something must continue. After all, this is something different from skiing. Here, it's all about “pace” and consistent speed throughout.
Johaug previously said she was aiming for a final time of 1.09.30 – one minute ahead of EC requirements.
– It is not appropriate for Therese to run for membership in the European Commission if she meets the requirements, director Jörn Ernst told VG recently.
The Norwegian half marathon record is held by Caroline Bjerkele Grovdal and is 1.07.34.
The Grue Half Marathon is Johog's third competition since it was halted after the 2022 Olympic season.
I stood at the starting line surrounded by men on all sides. Many of the men were nervous about whether they would finish before Yohag.
Sweden's Linus Rosdal won the Grue Half Marathon. Distance 21.0975 km.
Therese Johaug returned to the scene after giving birth in the 17-kilometre Engadine Frauenlauf ski race in Switzerland on March 3, then was in a class of her own at the three-mile national championships in Lillehammer.
Yohog has also achieved strong results on the track and field in the past. In 2020, she managed the 10,000m WC requirement during the Impossible Games in Bislett. The time was 31,40,67. The following year she ran the 10,000 meters in 31.32.88.
The Athletics Federation has been positive about Yohog getting a European Championships ticket to Rome in June, but according to the director, this is irrelevant.
