The class workload is increasing and I pulled a jacket out of my closet last night – which can only mean one thing. Fall here! And a new season requires a new playlist. Autumn is for cozy drinks, pumpkin picking, squeezing the person across the lecture hall, and pretending that the walk across campus is part of a movie montage. Enjoy it all with this playlist, designed to bring the magic of a romantic comedy into your everyday life.
“Kiss me” for sixpence is nothing richer
This song is soft, sweet and very beautiful. It’s the perfect background music for the moment when you realize you’re in love with your long-time best friend, who just happens to feel the same way about you.
“Where You Lead” by Carole King
Can’t go down without the Gilmores, and this is their song. Follow in Lorelai and Rory’s footsteps by falling in love with men with different levels of maturity. There may be drama, but do it for the plot.
“Cigarette Daydream” from Elephant Cage
This song has a touch of mystery. It calls for contemplation. Play it as you stare longingly out the window on a stormy autumn night, perhaps torn between two equally attractive but completely different love interests.
“Valerie” by Amy Winehouse
Moody and passionate, this is the tone that will be played during a grand gesture of love that follows a huge battle. Prepare for praise.
“Put Your Records” by Corinne Bailey Rae
This song is for dancing in an old-fashioned restaurant with your crush. clearly.
“I think I met you in a dream” with a coin
Every rom-com needs a good dream sequence, where the main character thinks she’s finally fallen in love and then brutally wakes up back to her sad reality. This is the background music for you.
“Do you believe in magic?” With a spoon of love
This hopeful and optimistic tune will play during a bouncy montage of early relationship joy.
“Vienna” by Billy Joel
This honeymoon can’t wait forever. This song will come after a simple struggle that to you seems like the end of the world.
“It’s So High” by Tal Bachmann
At some point, someone will admire you from afar, and you’ll have no idea. This will be the song that plays.
“Dreams” of cranberries
The perfect way to end a rom-com. I can see the credits rolling now.
