Epic Games, after further problems with Apple, has been allowed to register its App Store in Sweden so it can offer alternatives to the App Store in the 27 EU member states.
The launch is still unknown
We don't know exactly when the company plans to launch the new app stores, but they will launch for both Android and iPhone sometime during the year. The company has released a concept of how the store will be visualized on mobile. The app is similar to Apple's with Promoted Apps at the top, while tabs like Most Popular and Editor's Picks can be found at the top. At the bottom you see notifications, contacts and what may be the profile access page.
“We're coming to iOS and Android! The same level of play, available to all developers, in a true cross-platform store – with amazing games for everyone,” Epic Games Store on X said with the accompanying concept image.
Speaking of terms, Epic Games gets 12 percent and allows developers to keep 88 percent unlike Apple's terms which start with 30 percent for Apple, and decrease if certain conditions are met. Google adjusted its share to 15 percent on the first million dollars it received, a change it made in 2021.
