– Infectious situation for children and youth in Oslo is now much higher and more serious than ever before in epidemics, says Sunny Holmes Eatswall (SV), city councilor for culture and knowledge.
According to the government, the yellow standard for kindergarten and primary and secondary schools and the red level for secondary schools will be introduced from Thursday.
At the same time, the government came up with clear guidelines for high-risk municipalities, including Oslo. In many kindergartens and schools in Oslo, absenteeism among employees due to illness or isolation is very high.
Here is the timeline for the Oslo School Towards Christmas:
- Tuesday, December 14: Kindergartens and schools provide services at the green level. For most people, this means an open offer based on normal times.
- Wednesday, December 15: If they need time to prepare for the transition to yellow, schools can get digital home education. Children with vulnerable living conditions and children with parents in socially important occupations will still benefit. Students and parents will be notified of what to apply for locally from the school.
- Thursday, December 16: Kindergarten and elementary schools operate at the yellow level. High school on the red level. Schools and kindergartens inform their parents and students about the organization and opening hours.
- Tuesday, December 21st It will be a pre-Christmas school day.
– Important employee status
City Councilor Sunniva Holmås Eidsvoll in Oslo says there is an important staffing situation at many kindergartens and schools in the capital.
– Intensified activities in the yellow and red stages from Thursday will further demand the activation of the infection control sound opportunity at the Oslo School. Increased isolation may also contribute to reduced privilege for parents and preparation for more digital teaching towards Christmas, he says in a news release Monday night.
Eidsvoll says he is even more pleased that the government is prioritizing testing for school staff.
– Also, staff in schools and kindergartens are asking us to prioritize the third dose vaccine, says Sunny Holmes Eatswall
He says the mass test for students in grades 1 to 10 and staff working in kindergartens continues in Oslo.
