Thursday is the election. Latest forecast from the analysis agency YouGov The Conservatives, or Conservative Party, led by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, appear to be heading for a catastrophic defeat.
Labour, led by Keir Starmer, is expected to win 431 of the 650 seats in the British parliament. In that case, it would be the largest majority in the party’s history, and the largest majority for any party since 1832, he writes. Sky News.

The Conservatives are forecast to win just 102 seats, a drop of 270 seats since the last election in 2019.
You want to change
Polling stations, which number more than 40,000, opened at 8 a.m. Norwegian time. Millions of Britons are expected to exercise their right to vote before polls close at 11 p.m.

The voter NRK spoke to outside a polling station in London had no doubts when he cast his ballot.
It had to be the Labour Party.
“It’s been 14 years of waiting, and now it’s time for a new beginning,” he said. “I just want the country to come to its senses again.”

He won't say what he's voting for, but he realizes the debate has become highly polarized.
– It's a mess, it needs to grow up. Less extremism, less focus on individual issues like immigration. It could have been boring and nicely settled.

Unknown candidate for prime minister
But while the UK election could bring the first change of power in 14 years, interest has been low. Turnout is expected to be the same.

– And it's very important. It's democracy, says one voter NRK spoke to in London. She brought her dog to the polling station.
– Can you describe the political situation and what is important to you?
– It's important that everyone votes and everyone's voice is heard. We have a choice. We've looked at politics and what's happened in recent years. And people can vote for the party they want today, she says.
