Stavanger (Dagbladet): The day after the opening of the WC, Camilla Herrem left the WC team and returned home to her husband, Steven Stejavec, and their two sons.
The family dog, Lake, 11 years old, died. Torer Hergerson said Herrem wanted to be there for his “children” when they woke up.
– I will be exposed
– Life is hard sometimes, and on Steven Stejavec’s 40th birthday, Lake slept soundly. Words can’t really describe how much I love this girl here. This hurts the soul. It’s not quite the day I thought about, Steven, but congratulations for the day, love you so much,β Hirem wrote on Instagram.
The dog has been with Hirem on professional adventures in Romania, Denmark and Macedonia. Hirem spent Thursday at home with his family to comprehend what happened.
– There was a lot of crying and I woke up with heartache. But it’s nice to have nice people around, and it’s lucky I’m home. I’m so glad I was home and not somewhere else. So I can be home in 10 minutes after Stephen calls, says Herrem after Norway’s big win over Austria on Friday night.
Sweden reacts
The veteran left winger himself set the tone with six goals from six shots. Her husband, Stejavec, sat in the stands as support.
βIt was good to come here and think about other things,β Hirim responded by playing a match shortly after the news broke.
– I am very happy with the team we have and I feel that I have found the right level for the tournament, which is nice, says the 37-year-old, who believes that her level has increased in recent months.
