Tons of rock – it's hot in Ekbergsletta

The sun burns mercilessly on Ekebergsletta. It creates good conditions for cold beer and festive fun.

But temperatures near 30 degrees also present challenges as 150,000 black-clad festival-goers gather.

Today, the hard rock festival Ton of Rock kicked off at Ekberg in Oslo.

This year, the festival marks its 10th anniversary, and on Wednesday night, none other than Metallica will be dancing.

Dizziness continued

Amund Finn tells Tagbladet just before I hit the ground now.

His black jersey is drenched in sweat.

Now he strategically stands in the shade and applies sunscreen.

The incident took place on the Moonlight stage. It is located inside a large festival tent.

– The temperature is nothing to scoff at.

Finne was in a boiling hot mosh pit when he was about to leave.

Moshpits are a common occurrence at rock concerts. It means that intrepid concert goers form a circle and crash together in a series of pushing and shoving.

– It's my own fault. I probably should have gone out earlier. But at a festival, he says with a smile, the elastic needs to be stretched.

Well made

– We set up our own sun patrols, says Mats Martinsen.

He co-founded Duns of Rock. He is helping to organize this year's festival.

According to Martinson, patrols should provide sunscreens and make sure people are comfortable in the heat.

Shade tents, water stations and free refillable bottles are other measures taken to ensure the festival fun doesn't end in heat stroke.

– We encountered good weather. It's easy to be a spectator in the sun here.

Full house

The founder of the festival says that the beginning of the festival went smoothly.

Ticket sales are very fast and Ekebergsletta is full.

– The weather is perfect, we have a full house, and the biggest rock band in the world is playing tonight. No way to complain later.
