in In downtown Oslo, luxury shops lie like pearls on a string.
But while new ones are created, others fall away.
Now luxury brand Valentino has closed the doors of its store in Nedre Slottsgate.
Confirms
This is what it looked like in central Oslo on Thursday. A quick Google search confirms that the store is permanently closed.
Danske Group88 operates, among others, Valentino as well as Gucci, Burberry, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta and Mulberry.
The Danish luxury group confirms the closure, and Group 88 CEO Thomas Müller says it is part of Oslo plans.
The former Valentino buildings will be used for a new retail project in collaboration with Promenade and Steen & Strøm, and Valentino will, according to the plan, move to other, larger buildings. It is still unknown where.
Valentino opened its store in Oslo in 2018.
Last year, fashion house Balenciaga closed the doors of its Oslo store next to the Steen & Ström department store in the city centre.
Earlier this year, luxury brand Jimmy Choo also disappeared from Nedre Slottsgate in the city centre.
1000 sold before lunch
But there have also been several new openings, including Max Mara, Loewe and Chanel.
Because in just a few years, the area in central Oslo has transformed from just chain stores and souvenir shops into a destination for specifically luxury shopping.
Dior has its only Scandinavian store here, while the Louis Vuitton store in Oslo is the largest in Scandinavia.
