– I am very happy today, Vidar Villa says.
The daily newspaper Meet him at Angst Bar, located on what he believes to be Oslo’s most beautiful street. The bar, with its somewhat misleading name, is located in Strøget – home to colorful restaurants with flavors from around the world, it features rustic facades with street art and twinkling strands of lights.
The little clip from Oslo’s old glory days is a ‘secret’ little oasis in the middle of the city, and we understand very well why the hilarious artist enjoys working in the music studio here. The creative impulse suits him well.
Vidar walks forward, through a gate adorned with colorful faux flowers, and into what may be his favorite bar. Anyway, he greets those behind the counter, and he knows the woman who painted all the pictures there.
Villa Vidar, or Vidar André Grødset Mohaugen, as he is actually called, has appeared in Dagbladet’s new TV project “Nødt eller Sannhet”. The series revolves around celebrities who do activities outside their comfort zone.
– If I had known what I would be involved in, I probably would not have taken part. But he notes that it would be good TV.
Surprised: – Very strange
Life is smiling full on the fair-haired 33-year-old today. Of course he’s in love, and he thinks it’s a really good thing to be so in love with someone and to have someone on your own terms really.
– I think I’m a good friend. I try to pay attention and like to do things. Now I brag about myself, but I think I’m a nice lover, says Vidar.
Since his music is influenced by how he feels, it’s also no coincidence that he’s releasing a new song on Valentine’s Day itself.
– I am very happy today. So this song will make you happy, and it’s a song that makes you want to jump and dance to. The script reveals a somewhat tragic turn in the love affair, which I think a lot of people can identify with.
Although Vidar loves the good life, And live to give others a good party. Life has not always been a dance on silk flowers. Stepping back a few years, he had a real heartbreak, which also affected his music.
The only thing I wrote were the songs that were about the relationship that was going on at the time. The music became sadder and quieter. When I wrote the “Gamle bilder” EP, it was very therapeutic for me. Unfortunately, the songs were not very popular. Maybe people used to be happy with my songs, so when I wrote those songs, I think maybe people didn’t really believe in me. I’ve never written anything truer, says Vidar.
Speaking of breaking up: – Great transition
Vidar grew up in Skedsmokorset, north of Oslo. He tells of his good upbringing, where most of his life revolved around football. When he was twelve years old, his parents divorced, which traumatized him.
– I thought it was so terrible, and I remember the world falling apart. I got a terrible headache, and I had to stay home for two days. So I took it really hard. But my mom and dad were very good at not putting us too much into it. When you’re young, you don’t understand what divorce is, says Vidar.
In high school he became a rebel. He left the football he loved, and found a clique that took a rather heavy blow. He had a lot of trouble, and he told that he had real hate To school and skip a lot. This was as far as he could manage to get permanent grades.
– I spent the weekend. I’ve always loved being social, and that started when I was about eighteen. It suited me really well, and I was very good at creating a good atmosphere. I was popular and I felt like people wanted me because I was fun to be around. Maybe I’m romanticizing parties and a pleasure to drink beer with guys, says Vidar.
Although Vidar’s father was a musician, He had no plans to become an artist himself. It wasn’t until he started studying that he met Jonas Thomassen, who plays in the band.
– I remember being upset because their job was to travel and just have fun and play music at parties. She was the work they. Is he serious! At the same time my brother started playing the guitar. I wouldn’t get any worse, and I started playing the guitar myself. The famous artist says I love her so much, I never let her go.
But he started his professional career much later. A guitar was passed, and when it was his turn he played a few silly notes of his own composition. After convincing several quarters, the songs were released. He never regretted it.
The ugliest celebrities in Norway
Father is an important person in Vidar’s life. They’re far apart musically, but beyond that they’re definitely quite alike. Kind of “happy you get lucky”, a bit naive and has faith that things will work out.
Dad played everything from 70’s rock to dance bands. He even has a silver cassette hanging on the wall. It’s funny. And then he built a studio in the house, so the whole band could go there and write music. Dad is going to be an older man at 77. But he’s 20, and he still loves a good party. Vidar says just like me.
work is going well, And he feels that he is really living the dream. The pandemic would also prove to accelerate his career, and that on several levels.
– We toyed with the idea of sailing down the coast and having beer parties. Then came Corona, and in the first summer two hundred guests were allowed. We trimmed the band down, chartered a fifty-foot cruiser and set off. It was successful. We did 44 concerts in five weeks, and it was really hard. But it was the biggest adventure we’ve ever had, says Vidar.
The housing dream has been frozen
The guys saw that the audience was having fun, and that this is something they should continue to do. They ended up purchasing the ferry MS Bjørvika, spent the winter refitting it, and began the summer tour at sea again the following year.
– In the summer there will be a new ferry tour. But instead of a tour bus, we have an accompanying boat. An old fishing boat converted into a tour bus on the water, with sleeping space for 17 people and a jacuzzi in the back. We will live on it. It will be crazy.
