When Pål Golberg (31) goes to Ruka to go to the World Cup, he won’t be home until next year.
Half of the all-around team and coach have become parents since the last Olympics. Now Golberg is not taking any chances before the Tour de Ski.
– When we travel to Ruka on Wednesday, I won’t come home until after the Tour de Ski. I go to Davos right after Lillehammer, and then there’s a stay at altitude before the Tour de Ski, Golberg tells VG.
He is Frida’s father for three years. Hans Christer Holland has a one-and-a-half-year-old son, Hokun, while Sjør Ruth became Daedrick’s father earlier this year. National team coach Eric Mer-Nossum has a one-and-a-half-year-old son, Niklas.

This fall, Golberg received proof of how easy it is to catch an illness when you have kids in kindergarten.
– Our daughter gave birth as often as possible in kindergarten to have a sick round, to strengthen the immune system a little. We managed, to put it this way, says Golberg and laughs well.
The daughter and the family caught a cold.

Hans Christer Holland earned a victory and sixth place in the season opener in Betustoln. He runs my dad’s chart with slightly lowered shoulders, and he’ll come home from time to time.
– If Håkon is sick, unfortunately I can’t go home. It’s a short time we have to qualify for the Olympics, only three or four weekends. If you get sick now, the Olympic train will leave. But as long as Håkon is healthy, I’m not strict about this, Holland tells VG.
Ruth Red
Sjore Ruth broke the race in the national cross-country opener on Saturday, but battled for second in the 15km freestyle on Sunday. In preparations for the inaugural season, he had not seen his son, Diedrick, in several weeks. On Monday, the joy of the reunion was wonderful.
“I’ll take precautions, but he’s so young that he doesn’t currently have the kindergartner diseases that other people are likely to have,” Roth tells VG.
Holland became the champ to meet the figure, became the world champion at Five Mile in 2019, and followed suit last winter World Cup Gold in 15 km. Ruth became the world champion in the combined 30km start with a ski change in 2019.
National team coach Eric Mir We fast says that having a son In kindergarten is a challenge. He adds with humor that at the age of one and a half years, Niklas has not yet understood the one-meter rule.
– There is a runny nose and a cough over low shoes. But I will be very careful in the next few months, and not take anything with me to the team, says Nasum.
