William, 24, often stops on the street:

– I kind of see where they’re coming from, says William Gundersen (24) to Dagbladet.

William is repeatedly stopped on the street by strangers in Oslo. Some want to take pictures, others want to hear him sing.

– Two weekends ago, I was sitting on the tram on my way to town when a random guy came up and took a quick selfie. I didn’t understand what he was doing until he started asking if I could sing some Christmas carols, says William.

Although William is neither a singer nor a celebrity, he has something else that makes many people look twice.

Some people believe that he bears similarities to former “Idol” star Kurt Nielsen. He himself has a little doubt.

– I can see some similarities, but it’s hard to say. I have spaces between my teeth, says William, but luckily I was able to tighten them up a bit.

Kurt’s son?

For the 24-year-old, nothing can compare to Norway’s Kurt Nielsen.

– I don’t take it negatively and people probably only have good intentions when they say that, but it’s a little weird. I don’t quite know how to deal with that, but he’s not a bad person to look up to.

William works as an actor and was in the Discovery + series “Alt du elsker”. When it started to appear on the screens, there were also many users who noticed the similarity to the Jodel app.

Christmas peak season

– I didn’t know it would be so extreme. Jokingly, I had slightly different ideals.

Although people come to him year-round, William says Christmas time is high season.

-Maybe because Kurt became a famous Christmas entertainer, says William.

Dagbladet has tried contacting Kurt Nielsen to hear what he thinks about the comparison, but has yet to hear back.
